Director Of Sports Performance

Nick Morrell

I was born and raised in Ogallala, Nebraska and graduated from Ogallala High School in 2004. Throughout middle school and high school, I was a multi-sport athlete, playing football, basketball, wrestling, track, and baseball. After my senior year, I was selected to the Nebraska Class B All-State team in both Football and Basketball and was also selected as a Shrine Bowl Participant.  I went on to play basketball at both the University of Nebraska @ Kearney and the University of South Dakota and graduated with a physical education/health degree. During the three seasons I was at UNK the teams were 25+ wins each year,  always in the hunt for the conference title, and always amongst the top rated teams. I transferred to the U of South Dakota for my senior year, again the team won 25 games and made it to the regional tournament.  After graduating for the U of South Dakota with a degree in Physical Education and Health, my wife and I moved to Prescott Valley Arizona where we both began our teaching and coaching careers.  During the 8 years I have been in Arizona I helped build the Titans club basketball team which was based out of Prescott AZ.  I had teams from 4th-11th grade playing in tournaments and leagues in Phoenix where we experienced a lot of success. I also coached a girls elite team for the Arizona Sting.  This team traveled to tournaments around the country, competing against top rated athletes.   From the very first time I stepped into a basketball gym and heard the screeching of the shoes on the court, the sound of the net as the ball floated through the hoop and saw the intensity, focus, determination that the game demanded from the players, I had fallen in love.  Still today, there aren't too many places that I'd rather be then in a gymnasium full of hoops.  When I stepped on to the court I wanted to show that all of the work that I was putting in the gym, the running, strength and conditioning workouts, dribbling drills, passing drills, and shooting drills were paying off.  Win or lose that game, I wanted to make sure that the other team respected me and the way I played.  The passion that I brought as a player is the same passion I bring to coaching today's athletes.  I want them to achieve their goals as much as they do.  It gives me as much joy to coach and teach the game of basketball as it did growing up learning how to play it.
